Would you like to try open-water swimming? Luxembourg Sharks Masters actively engage with the open water community in Luxembourg and abroad. Our activities are open to all experienced swimmers capable of swimming at least 2 km without interruption. Club membership is not required. You can reach us at ows@luxembourgsharks.lu for more information or join our Facebook group to stay in the loop with our latest initiatives.
Open Water Swims
During the bathing season, which runs from May 1st to September 30th, we meet almost every weekend for friendly swims at the Upper Sûre Lake (Luxembourgish: Stauséi Uewersauer). This large body of water is Luxembourg’s main potable water reservoir.
Although we try to keep an eye on newbies, there is no lifeguard or swim-instructor at the lake and you will be solely responsible for your safety and well-being. Depending on water temperature and your level of experience, a wetsuit may be necessary. On request, we will be happy to lend you a swim-buoy, which is important to keep you visible in the water!
Are you worried about cyanobacteria? You can find the latest report on the water quality of Luxembourg lakes at the Administration de la Gestion dell’Eau (AGE) website.
Open Water Calendar
Occasionally we like to travel to participate in International Open Water events. You are welcome to join us but we are no travel agent. Trip organisation and event registration are entirely up to you.

Open Water Results
We favour friendship and participation, over results and competitiveness. Nevertheless we are proud of our swimmers' open-water performances. Here are some of this year’s results.
