The Luxembourg Sharks Swimming Club is proud to celebrate a major achievement by its standout athlete Lou Jominet, who has officially qualified for the upcoming European Short-Course Championships following an exceptional performance at the Saint-Dizier international meet.
Racing with confidence and remarkable execution, Lou clocked 4:16.42 in the 400m freestyle, securing her ticket to the continental event. But her weekend didn’t stop there. She delivered a dominant performance in the 1500m freestyle, winning the race in an impressive 16:47.43 — not only under the European qualification standard (16:49.40), but also establishing a new Luxembourg national record.
These results further confirm Lou’s growing status as one of Luxembourg’s brightest swimming talents.

A Rising Star Thriving Under Strong Leadership
Lou joined the Sharks just over a year ago, entering a decisive phase in her athletic progression. Under the guidance of Head Coach Jabrane Touili, she found the structure, endurance-focused methodology, and motivational environment needed to excel.
“From the first training session, everything changed,” Lou has previously explained. “Coach Jabrane pushes us to swim more distance, not just short sprints. He knows exactly how to motivate me.”
Touili’s philosophy — rooted in discipline, high volume training, and close athlete-coach communication — has proven successful at every stage of his career. His values and professionalism, highlighted in a recent Le Quotidien feature, continue to elevate the Sharks’ high-performance group.
A Project That Bears Fruit
Since Coach Touili’s arrival in Luxembourg, the Sharks have undergone significant growth, both in size and technical structure. With the club expanding from around 350 to more than 750 swimmers, results like Lou’s demonstrate how this project is producing homegrown talent capable of reaching international level.
“We are extremely happy with the work being done,” says club President Mr. Alexis D'Esposito . “This qualification is a milestone not only for Lou, but for the Sharks’ long-term vision.”
Eyes on Europe
With national record momentum, two qualification standards, and increasing confidence, Lou will now focus on preparing for the European Championships — where she will proudly represent Luxembourg on the international stage.
Her journey is a testament to commitment, resilience, and the power of a supportive club environment.
Congratulations, Lou!
